Every shop has a horror story. Most of them happened the second day of her vacation.
The owner thinks he will cover the phones while she is gone. Day one goes fine. Day two he is on a job and forgets. Day three the voicemail box has 18 messages. Day four the office manager returns to a crisis.
This is a structural problem, not a willpower problem. Have a fallback that is not the owner.
