We A/B tested 24 callback text templates. The winner is shorter than you think.

The winning template across our test:

Hi [name], this is [shop] - we just missed your call about [job]. We can be out [window]. Reply YES to lock it in or call us back at [number].

It works because it does three things in one message: confirms the shop knows what the call was about, offers a specific time window, and gives a one-tap commit. Anything longer dropped response rates. Anything generic ("we missed your call, please call back") underperformed by 40%.
