Booking that respects the truck route
Why our scheduler offers the windows that minimize windshield time instead of the first open slot.
A booking system that hands out the next open slot creates the same problem every trades dispatcher has solved by hand for thirty years: techs zig-zagging across town, $40 of fuel and an hour of windshield time per stop.
The new scheduler is route-aware. When a caller is qualifying for a window, we look at the tech's existing stops for that day, score candidate slots by added drive time, and offer the two that cost the day the least. The customer still gets a real choice. The truck just doesn't end up in Plano at 9am and McKinney at 10am and Plano again at 11am.
Early data from twelve pilot shops: a 17% reduction in inter-stop drive time across an average week.
