Furnaces die on the first 10 degree night, not the 30 degree one. Plan your phones around it.
HVAC techs know the rhythm: a furnace that limped through November dies the night the temperature crosses into single digits. The phone explodes between 9pm and midnight. The shop that picks up books the job.
If your strategy depends on a tech answering his cell while he is mid-diagnostic at another house, plan for a 50% miss rate on the rest of the calls that night.
