What the second shop on the list says when they pick up
We mystery-shopped 60 metros to hear what your competitor tells your customer when you don't answer.
We ran a mystery-shop study across 60 metro areas. For each, we placed a typical after-hours service call to the top-ranked Google business and, if voicemail picked up, hung up and called the second result. We logged what the second shop said.
The standard pitch
The second shop almost always opened with a variation of "thanks for calling, sorry to hear about the issue - we can have someone out tonight." No mention of price. No mention of forms or scheduling friction. Just a confident yes and a window.
The first shop's voicemail had no answer for any of this. The second shop won the call 84% of the time in our follow-ups.
