The phone tag death spiral

Customer calls. You call back. They miss it. They call back. You miss it. Average booking probability after three rounds: 12%.

Phone tag is a slow-motion lost-job machine. Each unanswered round cuts the probability the customer eventually books with you by roughly a third. After three failed handoffs, you are essentially calling a stranger who has already moved on.

The pattern almost always starts with one missed call. The fix is to never have the first one - or, when it happens, to follow up with a text immediately so the conversation lives somewhere asynchronous instead of stuck in voicemail jail.
